DECORAH, Iowa — The Luther men's soccer team (3-2-5, 0-0-2 A-R-C) and Loras (7-0-5, 1-0-2 A-R-C) played to a 2-2 draw with each team scoring twice in the second half.
Enrique Lopez Barriga and
Paul Menge were the goal scorers for the Norse.
The Norse nearly had the lead after a deflection off the Duhawks goalie gave
Will Elias an open look but his shot hit the post in the 33rd minute. By halftime it was scoreless after the first forty-five minutes.
Then in the second half, Luther struck first as
Enzo Mitidieri threaded the ball perfectly through to Lopez Barriga for the goal in the 50th minute. The Norse extended their lead in the 63rd minute when Menge found the back of the net, making it 2-0. Loras responded, with Sep Heerkens scoring in the 70th minute cutting the Luther lead to one. The Duhawks weren't done yet as in the 78th minute the Norse were called for a foul in the box. Dani Galiana Torres took the penalty kick and converted to tie the game at 2-2.
Luther travels to Storm Lake, Iowa to take on Buena Vista on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
