DECORAH, Iowa — Luther (7-2-7, 4-0-4 A-R-C) clinched a share of the American Rivers Conference regular season championship after a 1-0 victory over Wartburg (7-7-2, 5-2-1 A-R-C).
Francesco Mungari scored the game winner in the 87th minute as the Norse captured its 11th conference championship.
The rainy game had a scoreless opening half. Then in the second half, Luther put up a strong offensive effort effectively out shooting Wartburg 14-1 including 12 shots in the final 30 minutes of the contest. In the 87th minute,
Joseph Mulindwa passed it to Mungari who buried it into the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season. The Norse defense held the Knights to its fewest shots on goal this season.
Both Wartburg and Luther share the 2025 A-R-C Regular Season Championship title.
Luther will be the no. 1 seed for the A-R-C Tournament and will host the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Norse will face the lowest remaining seed out of the opening round which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 1.
