STORM LAKE, Iowa - Kate Van Deventer scored the game winning goal in the 88th minute off of a free kick as the Luther women's soccer team (5-6-1, 1-2 A-R-C) defeated Buena Vista (4-8-1, 1-3-0 A-R-C) 1-0 on Saturday at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium and Peterson Field. The Norse snapped their five game losing streak and picked up their first win in American Rivers Conference action this season. The team recorded a season high 37 shots with 19 shots on goal.
The Norse defense limited the Beavers to just two shots in the entire game with both in the first half.
Elisabeth Queoff was credited with two saves in the 22nd and 44th minute.
Riley Anderson led the team with 10 shots for a season and career high, followed by Van Deventer with six and
Ava Stemler with five.
Luther returns home to host Central on Tuesday, Oct. 14 with kickoff at 5 p.m. in Decorah, Iowa.
