DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Luther volleyball team (5-16, 0-4 A-R-C) was defeated by Loras College (5-13, 1-2 A-R-C) in a four-set match, 16-25, 16-25, 25-22, 24-26, on Friday at the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.
Down by two sets, Luther rallied to win the third set 25-22.
Annika Franzen and Linsday Hanson combined for nine of the 14 kills in the set. The Norse hit .257 in the set for their best hitting percentage in the match.
In the fourth set, the score was tied 13 times and there were six lead changes. A kill from Hanson tied the set at 24-24 but the Duhawks won the final two points to win the match.
Three players for the Norse tallied 10-plus kills including
Lindsay Hanson (13),
Annika Franzen (11) and
Ruby Gerhard (10).
Iris Elias dished out 39 assists for a career high.
Mia Hernandez led the defense with 14 digs.
The Norse are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The match begins at 1p.m. in Platteville, Wis.
