Luther hosted St. Olaf College and American Rivers Conference opponent Loras College this afternoon for a double dual. The Norse defeated St. Olaf 181-104 and Loras 241-33. Luther finished first and second in the 100 backstroke, 200 breaststroke and 100 butterfly. The Norse also went one-two-three in the 200 IM. Divers
Colin Halverson and
Amir Womack added valuable points placing first and second respectively in both 1-meter (6 dives) and 3-meter (6 dives). Total, the Norse tallied 11 first place finishes, 11 second place finishes and seven third place finishes.
Halverson's point total on the 3-meter board (287.75), was his second NCAA qualifying cut (285 or higher), so he has now qualified to dive in the regional meet that will take place Feb. 28-Mar. 1. He also broke his own school record of (276.70) for 3-meter dual list, that he had established on Feb. 3, 2024.
The 200 medley relay team of
Drew Chamberlain,
Gabe Armstrong,
Noah Cochran and
Nico Shrestha got things going with an opening event first place finish (1:37.62).
Individually, first place finishes were recorded by
Samuel Schleicher in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.76),
Kevin Kretz in the 200 freestyle (1:49.71), Cochran in the 100 butterfly (53.60) and
Owen McCredie in the 200 IM (2:04.54). Chamberlain won both the 100 backstroke (53.79) and 200 backstroke (2:01.00), while Armstrong did the same in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.07) and 200 breaststroke (2:19.81).
With the two wins, Luther is now 3-0 against A-R-C opponents and 4-4 overall.

The Norse will wrap up their dual meet schedule at home on Saturday, Feb. 1 when they will host Coe College at 1 p.m.
