The men's swimming and diving team hosted the Luther Sprint Invite this afternoon and finished second behind St. John's University (MN). The Johnnies won the team title with (772.5) points, followed by the Norse (703), Nebraska Wesleyan University (508), Iowa Central CC (297.5) and Iowa Western CC (223).
Kevin Kretz set a pool record and school record in the 50 butterfly (23.04). Brayden Slavik of St. John's also set a pool record in the 1000 freestyle (9:50.11).
Chamberlain won the 100 backstroke (51.85) and Kretz touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (21.85). First place finishes were also recorded by
Noah Cochran in the 100 butterfly (53.67) and
Nico Shrestha in the 100 freestyle (48.33). The 200 medley relay team of Chamberlain,
Gabe Armstrong, Cochran and Kretz started the invite with a first place time of (1:36.60) that ranks eighth all-time.
Owen McCredie, became the second fastest swimmer in school history in the 100 IM clocked at (55.36).
Logan Eastman finished third in the 50 breaststroke clocked at (28.02) that ranks ninth all-time.

The Norse will return to action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18 when they will travel to Grinnell College for the Grinnell Invitational. Prelims will start at 9 a.m. with finals starting at 5 p.m. both days.
