No. 3 Luther remains alive in the American Rivers Conference Tournament after defeating No. 6 Wartburg College 4-3 in game seven of the tournament. The victory was a bit of revenge for the Norse after the Knights defeated the Norse in an opening round game by a final of 8-1.
With the score tied 3-3 entering the bottom of the eighth,
Peyton Lindmark lead-off solo home run that frame that proved to be the game winner.
Will Heithoff had the lone multi hit game going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Tyrus Werner was credited with the win in relief. Werner pitched the final two innings and did not allow a run on one hit and struck out one.
Charles Running got the start and threw 7 innings, allowed three runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out two.
The win gives Luther an overall record of 28-15. Wartburg's season came to an end with a mark of 23-19.
Luther will now play No. 6 Loras College at 6 p.m. tonight.
