Norse Split With Duhawks - Cullen Stamp Sets Career Stolen Bases Record

Luther and Loras split the final two games of this three-game weekend series this afternoon in the valley. The Norse won game one 10-3 and the Duhawks won game two 17-6 in eight innings. Luther won the series 2-1.

In the nightcap, Cullen Stamp set the career stolen bases record in the bottom of the first. Stamp entered the weekend series tied with Jake Vogt (2016-19) with 58 career swipes. After a lead-off walk, he easily stole second, to set the new mark of 59. Stamp has now stolen 18 bases on 18 attempts this season.

Game One: Luther 10, Loras 3
Luther tallied 10 runs on 10 hits. The Norse scored three times in both the third and fourth innings and added four more in the eighth. Gavin Scurr led the offensive attack driving in four runs. Peyton Lindmark was credited with two rbi, while Stamp, Mark Prince, Joshua Matanich and Anthony Esposito were all credited with one.

Ryan Manternach and Kaleb Thiesse held the Duhawks in check. Manternach (2-1) was credited with the win. He threw five complete innings, allowed two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out five. Thiesse took over for the final four frames and allowed one run on five hits and struck out four.

Game Two: Loras 17, Luther 6 (8 Innings)
The Duhawks tallied 17 hits and scored three runs in the second, four in both the third and eighth frames, and six in the sixth en route to the victory. The Duhawks Vince Polizzi was a one-man wrecking crew.  Polizzi went 3-for-5 at the plate and drove in nine rbi. He hit a three-run home run in the second, added an rbi with a double in the third, and capped off the afternoon with a grand slam in the sixth.

The Norse jumped out to an early 5-0 lead scoring twice in the first and three times in the second, but were shut down by Duhawk reliever Danny Heimer who was called to the mound with the bases loaded and no outs in the third.  Heimer allowed just one run in five innings of work, walked one and struck out four.

Noah Pinette led the Norse with three hits and Scurr had two. Lindmark drove in two runs, while Scurr, Prince and Matanich were all credited with one rbi.
