Luther and the University of Dubuque wrapped up their three-game series this afternoon in the valley. The first two games were held in Decorah opening weekend of the A-R-C schedule, March 23. Game three was postponed until this afternoon due to snow on the 24th and today was the first open date for both teams to complete the series.
This afternoon, Dubuque defeated Luther 2-1. Both teams scored a run in the first frame and the Spartans scored the game winner in the top of the seventh.
Noah Kindem drove in Luther's lone run in the first with an rbi single to left field.
Gavin Scurr started the inning with a lead-off single to right.
The Spartans scored the game winner after loading the bases in the seventh and Colin Husko drove in what proved to be the game winner on a fielders choice ground ball to the infield.
Charles Running got the start on the mound and threw 5 1/3 innings, allowed one earned run on five hits, walked four and struck out four.
Blake Jondle was credited with the loss. He allowed on earned run on two hits, die not issue a walk and struckout three.
The Norse will wrap up the regular season scheduled this Friday and Saturday, May 3-4. Friday's double header will begin at 1 p.m. and Saturday's game will also start at 1 p.m.
