Norse Sweep Prairie Wolves - Improve To 24-12

Luther and Nebraska Wesleyan University were able to get the remainder of game two completed and game three this afternoon in Lincoln following some incredible weather conditions. The Norse won game two 10-7 and finished the series with a 20-7 victory in seven innings.

Following the weekend sweep, Luther is alone in third place in the A-R-C with a mark of 13-7, 24-12 overall.

Game Two: Luther 10, NWU 7
This game was suspended on Saturday afternoon after three innings due to rain and lightning with NWU leading 2-0. When play resumed at 3 p.m. today, the Norse scored in every inning except the eighth en route to the victory. Luther opened the game up with a five run fifth that was highlighted with a two-run home run by Mark Prince. His home run was the 10th of the year that tied the single season school record held by Ben Schott set in 2010.

Cullen Stamp led the squad with three rbi. Joshua Matanich, Noah Kindem and Peyton Lindmark were also credited with an rbi. Kindem hit a solo shot in the seventh. He finished the game going 3-for-5. Gavin Scurr also had multiple hits going 2-for-4 from the lead-off slot.

Kaleb Thiesse was credited with the win. Thiesse allowed five earned runs on six hits, walked one and struck out two in 2 2/3 innings of work. Brendan Scoonover and Blake Jondle pitched 2 1/3 and one full inning respectively to finish the game. Jondle was credited with the save, his sixth of the year.

Game Two: Luther 20, NWU 7 (7 Innings)
The Norse exploded for 20 runs on 21 hits en route to the seven inning victory. Matanich led the offensive attack going 4-for-5 and driving in five runs. He hit a three-run home run in the second, his eighth of the year. Prince and Cullen Stamp were next with three rbi each. Price was 3-for-6 and Stamp was 3-for-3. Mulitple hits were also produced by Gavin Scur, Kyle Morony Gabe Atkins and Lindmark.

Anthony Exposito (3-1) got the win. Espositio threw three complete and allowed two earned runs on one hit, walked four and struck out two. Carter Petsche and Tyrus Werner finished the game on the mound.

Up Next: Luther will host the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, April 30 at 3 p.m. This is the final game of the three-game series that started opening weekend of the A-R-C schedule and was not played due to snow.

Friday and Saturday, the Norse will complete the regular season schedule hosting league leading Coe College. Friday the teams will play a double header scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Saturday's game will will also start a 1 p.m.
