Luther and Simpson squared off for the final two games of this three-game series this afternoon in Indianola. The Norse won game one 8-3 and were defeated in game two 5-4. After yesterday's victory, Luther won the series 2-1.
Game One: Luther 8, Simpson 3
The Norse blew open a two-run game with a four-run seventh. In the seventh, all four runs were unearned.
Joshua Matanich drove in two runs on a double to left-center field.
Gavin Scurr was also credited with an rbi. Scurr finished the game with four rbi.
Cullen Stamp was 2-for-4 from the lead-off slot and scored three times.
Patrick Fontaine also had a multiple hit game going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Ryan Manternach (1-1) picked up his first win of the season. He threw five innings, allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight.
Kaleb Thiesse was credited with the save. Thiesse faced 15 batters in four innings, allowed two run on two hits and stuck out seven.

Game Two: Simpson 5, Luther 4
Simpson scored twice in both the third and fourth innings and added what proved to be the game winner in the eighth. Luther trailed until the seventh when it tied the game at 4-4.

Patrick Fontaine, and
Tyrus Werner were all credited with one rbi. Prince was 4-for-5 and
Cullen Stamp was 2-for-5.
Blake Jondle (1-1) was credited with the loss in relief. Jondle took over in the fourth and allowed one run on one hit. He walked one and struck out five.
Noah Kindem got the start and lasted 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits, walking four.
Brendan Scoonover pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed two runs on four hits.

The split gives Luther an American Rivers Conference record of 2-3, 13-7 overall. Simpson is now 1-5 in the A-R-C, 8-13 overall.
Luther will host Loras College April 5-6 for a three game series. Firday's first game will start at 3 p.m. Saturday's twin bill will begin at 1 p.m.
