Luther wrapped up its five-game spring trip to Tucson, Arizona with a 5-4 victory over St. John's University (MN) this afternoon. The win gave the Norse a mark of 5-0 in Tucson and increased their overall record to 11-4. St. John's fell to 8-6.
Trailing 2-0 after six, the Norse did all of their damage in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on two hits. In this frame, the Norse drew four walks.
Cullen Stamp drove in a run with a single and
Gavin Scurr drove in two with a triple.
The Johnnies pulled to within one, scoring a run in both the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings.
Randy Pereyra was credited with his first win of the year. Pereyra took over in the fourth and pitched three innings. He did not allow a run, walked two and struck out three.
Blake Jondle was credited with his third save of the year. He pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, did not issue a hit, walked one and struck out one.
