Luther kicked-off its five game mini-spring trip to Tucson, Arizona with a 7-1 victory over Crown College (MN). The Norse will be in playing at the Kino Sports Complex from the 15th to the 18th before returning home for the conference opener against the University of Dubuque on Friday, March 22.
The Norse scored their runs on 10 hits and held a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. In that frame,
Noah Pinette and
Cullen Stamp both hit two-run home runs that proved to be the final runs of the game.
Joshua Matanich also drove in two runs going 3-for-3.
Lewis Peters, who started behind the plate, was also credited with an rbi.
Brendan Scoonover got the start on the mound and did not allow a run in three innings of work.
Aaron Clark (1-0) was credited with the win and allowed one run on two hits, walked one and struck out four.
Noah Dutler tossed the final two frames and struck out one.

The win gives Luther an overall record of 7-4.
Luther will play a double header against Macalester College tomorrow. The first game will begin at 12 p.m. central time.
