ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Luther women's basketball team closed the first half of the season on a high note after a 89-64 victory over Rockford University. The Regents held a 22-17 lead after the first quarter before the Norse took over the lead after a three-pointer from
Natalie Beaver (32-29) with 5:32 before halftime. Luther remained in control the rest of the game as the team shot 59.6 percent from the field. The Norse are 9-3 overall.
Haylie Strum led all scorers with a career high 32 points (13-17) and also had seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block. Three other players scored double-digits including Beaver (15),
Kate Hosking (13) and
Kailey Jones (11). Jones led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Norse scored 50 points in the paint and 26 came off turnovers.
Rockford drops to 1-7.
