No. 11 Wartburg College defeated Luther this afternoon in Waverly, Iowa by a final of 49-10. The Knights remain atop the American Rivers Conference standings with a perfect mark of 6-0, 7-1 overall.
Luther took the opening kick-off and proceeded to put together a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ended with an 18-yard touchdown pass from
Grady Rose to
Raul Medrano III for a touchdown. The extra-point by
Sean Medcalfe gave the Norse an early 7-0 lead.
The Knights responded with 21 unanswered points before Medcalfe kicked a career long 42-yard field goal with four seconds left in the first half. The final points of the afternoon for the Norse came at the end of a solid eight-play, 51-yard drive.
In the second half it was all Wartburg as the Knights scored three touchdowns in the third frame and one in the fourth.
Playing without the services of leading rusher
Aiden Damiani, the Norse offensive attack took to the air. Rose finished the afternoon 13-of-22 for 143 yards and two interceptions.
Brett Liljedahl was 7-of-12 for 50 yards.
Medrano led the receiving corps with five catches for 51 yards.
Michael White III was next with four receptions, followed by
Grayson Ward with three.
Defensively, Karl Furhman and
Bronson Knutson led all tackles with 12 and 10 respectively.
Geremiah Brown and
Xavier Capton were next with eight each.

Luther will wrap up its home schedule one week from today when it will host Buena Vista University. Kick-off will take place in Carlson Stadium at Noon.
