ST. PAUL, Minn. - Kailey Jones became the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 career points as the women's basketball posted an 83-59 victory over host University of Northwestern (MN). Four players were in double figures including Jones with 20,
Haylie Strum and
Natalie Beaver both had 16 and
Nora Pederson added 10. The Norse improve to 2-0 on the season.
As a team, Luther shot 55.7 percent from the floor, 40 percent from the arc and 62.5 from the free throw line. Jones notched her second straight double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She scored her 1,000 career in the third quarter at 9:52 with a layup inside the paint.
Strum also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for her first of the season. Beaver and Pederson set new career high point totals.
The Norse scored 40 points in the paint and had seven blocks.
