DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther women's basketball team dominated Crown College 78-28 in the season opener. The Norse were led by
Kailey Jones with her first double-double of the year with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Nastya Cicala chipped in 14 points for a career high and went 4-7 from the three-point line.
Haylie Strum had eight points and led the team with 12 assists. As a team Luther shot 45.1 percent from the field, 36.1 from beyond the arc and 83.3 from the free throw line.
The Norse offense went on a 28-0 run to start the first quarter of play. In that time, Luther was 12-23 from the field and 4-8 from the three-point line.
Luther scored 46 points in the paint, 26 came off turnovers and 22 were from the bench.
Several players scored their first collegiate points including
Lexi Thomas (8 pts),
Natalie Beaver (8 points),
Ava Highman (4 pts) and
Nora Pederson (2 pts).
Jones is five points away from 1,000 career points.
