DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther women's soccer team won it's first game of the season with a 4-1 victory over Buena Vista on Saturday. The Norse handed the Beavers their first loss of the season.
Sofia Biedermann scored two goals in the game while
Cassiah James and
Riley Anderson each had one. Luther is now 1-5-5 overall and 1-0-1 in the American Rivers Conference.
The Norse scored three goals in the first half. James opened up the scoring 15 minutes into the contest for her first goal of the season. Just three minutes later, as Biedermann's first shot hit the post and rebounded off the Beaver goalie rolling into the back of the net for a 2-0 Norse lead. Biedermann would score again in the 37th minute with
Sharla Hanson and Lily Kitundu on the assist. This was Kitundu's first career assist.
In the second half, Buena Vista scored their first goal in the game in the 53rd minute cutting into the Luther lead but they were still down by two.
The Norse responded in the 60th minute as
Riley Anderson scored her second goal of the season.
Luther also recognized its eight seniors

Megan Miller,
Julia Praska, and
Soley Valdimarsdottir.
Buena Vista is now 6-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the A-R-C.
