It was Homecoming week at the University of Dubuque and the Spartan football team handed their fans a 64-7 victory over the Norse this afternoon.
Spartan freshman quarterback Joey Rhomberg threw six first half touchdowns. Rhomberg completed his day 27-of-32 for 316 yards. The Spartans racked up 559 yards of total offense, while the defensive unit held the Norse to one trip inside the red zone and 123 yards of total offense.
Luther scored its touchdown with 9:02 remaining in the third quarter, when
Karl Fuhrman forced a fumble that was recovered by
Tyler Ragan and returned 37 yards for a touchdown. Ragan finished the day with nine tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Bronson Knutson led the defensive unit with 12 tackles and also had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Jacob Whitehill matches Ragan with nine tackles and
Conor Baesemann was credited with seven.

Luther returns to Carlson Stadium one week from today. The Norse (0-2, 1-3) will host the Loras College Duhawks (0-3, 0-5) at 1:00 p.m. The Duhawks will be looking for their first win of the season. Today they were defeated by league leading Coe College (3-0) by a final of 43-10.
