Men's Soccer Captures A-R-C Regular Season Title With 3-0 Win Over Dubuque

First regular season title for the Norse since 2017

DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther men's soccer team won their first American Rivers Conference regular season title since 2017 with a 3-0 victory over the University of Dubuque. All three goals came in the second half from Matthew Sale, Eli Lehmann, and Enzo Mitidieri. The Norse will have the no. 1 seed for the A-R-C tournament and will receive a first round bye.

After a scoreless first half, the Norse opened the scoring in the 66th minute as Sale drilled a shot with his right foot for a 1-0 lead.

Twelve minutes later, Luther doubled the lead as Lehmann collected the rebound off the Spartan goalie. He took one touch and fired it into the back of the net.

The final goal of the night came from Mitidieri who scored his fifth goal of the season.

The Norse had 28 shots with 18 shots in the second half alone. The Luther defense limited Dubuque to just six shots.

This is the fourth A-R-C regular season title under head coach Chris Garcia-Prats and the 10th overall for the program.

Luther improved its overall record to 8-4-5 and finished the A-R-C regular season 6-1-1. Dubuque finishes their season with a 5-11-2 overall record and 2-5-1 in the A-R-C.

In the latest United Soccer Coaches Region IX poll released Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Norse are ranked No. 6.
