Women's Basketball Rolls Past Buena Vista

DECORAH, Iowa - The Luther women's basketball team dominated Buena VIsta from start to finish in the 76-44 win on Saturday. Kailey Jones chipped in 18 points along with six rebounds. Luther improves their record to 10-10 overall and 5-6 in the American Rivers Conference. 

In the first quarter, Jordan Rubie scored the first points of the game for the Norse. The Beavers struggled offensively as they wouldn't get their first points off a layup at 5:56 and down by four. Then Luther went on an 8-0 run for a 12-point advantage. Buena Vista would get two more points in the quarter but the Norse closed the half leading 19-4. 

The Beavers cut the lead to 13 at the start of the quarter. However, Luther continued to maintain their double digit lead. A three from Megan Miller had the Norse ahead 26-9 with 7:14 before halftime. Later, Buena Vista would string together a 5-0 run but that was quickly ended by the Norse with free throws from Rubie. With 42 seconds in the quarter Kate Hosking dropped in a layup helping Luther extend their halftime lead to 35-20. 

Out the break Luther continued to see their lead swell after going 9-17 from the floor and 2-4 at the line. 

In the final quarter, Chelin Isaacson scored a jumper that put the Norse up 31-points with 3:28 to go. Later, Nastya Cicala knocked down a three with 40 seconds left in the game as Luther secured a 76-44 victory. 

Luther dominated nearly all statistical categories. The Norse scored 35 points off turnovers, 46 in the paint, and 33 came from the bench.
