DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Luther women's basketball team fell to Loras 81-51 on Wednesday.
Haylie Strum led the Norse with a career high 16-points. With the loss Luther is now 8-8 overall and 3-4 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
In the first minute of play
Kate Hosking passed it into
Kailey Jones for the layup for the early Norse lead. Later the score was all tied up at 11 with a bucket from Strum and for the fifth time in the first quarter. Loras pulled ahead by one but on the next play a layup from
Lizzie Kauls had Luther up by one at 3:24. The Duhawks closed the quarter on a 7-2 run for a 19-15 advantage.
The Duhawks had a strong second quarter shooting 60 percent from the field, 75 percent from the arc and 80 percent at the line. Loras outscored the Norse 25-10 taking a 44-25 lead heading into the locker room.
Then in the third quarter Loras jumped out on a 10-2 run. At 4:53 a jumper from Strum stopped the bleeding as the Norse rolled on a 6-0 run of their own. However, the Duhawks continued to add to their total for a 61-37 lead.
Loras continued to dominate the game with a 20-14 fourth quarter to defeat the Norse 81-51.
The Duhawks improved their record to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in the A-R-C.
The Norse had a better night at the line shooting 83.3 percent.

- Strum recorded her 10th game this season in double-digits.
- Kauls led the team in rebounds with 11 along with eights.
- Amelia Solum chipped in seven points a team high of three steals.
