PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – On the road and under the lights for the first time in the season the Luther men's soccer team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 3-0.
The Norse would have a chance outside the box on the free kick in the 8th minute of action with
Hernan Manzanet (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic / High Mowing School (NH)) setting up to take it. The shot was taken low and to the right corner but the Pioneers goalie made the save.
As the half dwindled on Platteville kept building putting pressure on the Luther defense. The Pioneers had several back-to-back shots but
Jack Bell (Madison, Wis. / Madison Memorial) and the defense kept them off the board. In the 41
st minute with four minutes left in the half the Pioneers cracked the game open scoring their first goal of the night. They would take a 1-0 led over Luther headed into halftime.
In the second half the Norse couldn't get the offense going recoding only one shot the entire half. Later in the 69
th minute Bell made a magnificent save punching a shot out of play doing what he could to keep Luther in the game. However, the Pioneers stayed on the front foot adding two more goals in the 72
nd and 80
th minute. Luther falls to UW-Platteville 3-0.
