Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Norse Tame Prairie Wolves on Senior Day

DECORAH, Iowa – In the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opener the Luther men's soccer team scored two goals in the first half to take care of Nebraska Wesleyan 2-0. Felipe Alvarez Casaro and Raul Ferrandez scored goals for the Norse on senior day.

Ten seniors of the program were honored before the game and recognized for their accomplishments on the field. The Norse were looking to get back on the right foot and they did just that with a commanding presence in the first half.

In the 16th minute, Jose Gimenez cut off an incoming pass from a Nebraska Wesleyan player and took the ball up field. He found the feet of Felipe Alvarez Casaro who took one touch and shot it with his left foot finding the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Then three minutes later the Norse added an insurance goal. Ricardo Crisanto set up on the corner kick. He took the kick sending a beautiful bending ball towards goal. Several players went up for it as the ball found the head of Raul Ferrandez. He flicked it in scoring his third goal of the year in the 19th minute.

Luther held on the second half securing a 2-0 win to open conference play. The Norse are now 2-3-3 overall and 1-0 in A-R-C.
