STORM LAKE, IOWA – The Luther men's soccer team won their second straight American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) game in a row. The Norse defeated the Beavers 4-0. Three players scored their first goals of 2023 including Enrique Lopez-Barriga,
Ben Bolte and
David Barlecaj.
Felipe Alvarez Casaro scored the other goal. Luther is 3-3-3 overall and 2-0 in A-R-C.
The Norse set up on the corner kick with players jamming into the box. The ball floated to the far post where the Norse took a shot but it deflected off the keeper and back out. Enrique Lopez-Barriga went up for the bicycle kick sending into the back of the net for the 1-0 Luther lead in the 21
st minute.
In the second half, the Norse offense kept finding success on the field.
Ben Bolte scored his first of the season in the 61
st minute. But just nine seconds after Buena Vista reset Luther buried another goal. This time it was
Felipe Alvarez Casaro for a 3-0 lead.
Then
David Barlecaj tallied his first career goal in the 78
th minute as the Norse secured victory 4-0.
