Through the first forty-five the Pioneers wanted to breakdown the backline of the Norse defense. They held steady and kept the score line at 0-0 going into the break.
Luther turned things around in the second half and worked with a sense of urgency. A foul on the Pioneers gave the Norse a chance to set up a play.
Kaitlyn Bebensee would take the kick sending in a bending ball toward the box. The Norse got to the ball first but then the Pioneer keeper made an effort to gather the ball but couldn't hold on to it. Then it was
Emma Lin crashing in to put it across the line for good for the 1-0 Norse lead.
Lauren Linkletter and
Maggie Haller were credited with assists on the goal in the 56
th minute.
With two minutes left in the game UW-Platteville had a chance to score the equalizer. Vavrichek came out charging towards the ball leaving the goal wide open. But then Haller comes in and miraculously prevents the ball from crossing the goal line. The Norse claim victory defeating the Pioneers 1-0.
