RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Luther men's soccer team won their first game of the season in a narrow 1-0 victory over Dominican University (Ill.) on Saturday. Raul Ferrandez scored the game winner in the 79
th minute off of a penalty kick. Luther is now 1-2-3 overall.
Scoreless through the first half both teams were seeking a goal. Dominican out shot Luther in the first half 5-2 but
Jack Bell made four saves to keep the Stars off the board.
In the second half the Norse offense cranked it up firing off more shots towards goal. Then a foul called in the box against Dominican gave the Norse a chance to take a penalty kick. Raul Ferrandez sent it low to score the game winner in the 79
th minute.
Kai Haroldson was in goal for the second half where he made three saves.
The Norse gave the Stars their first loss of the season and are now 1-2-3 overall.
