STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Luther Baseball team was right with Buena Vista from the very first pitch but the late rally was too much. The Norse leveled the game at 1-1 with a sac fly from Charlie Rubendall who brought the tying run across the plate. But the Beavers rallied to win 10-1 scoring seven runs in the bottom of the eighth. Luther is now 19-12 overall and 12-4 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C).
 
BATTLED HARD
Beavers got on the board first scoring a lone run in the bottom of the second. The Norse kept the damage from getting any further with Nick Dufoe (Adel, Iowa / Adel-DeSoto-Minburn) closing the inning with a strikeout. Buena Vista threatened again the following inning with a runner on third but Luther pulled out an incredible play to get the advancing runner out at home with the tag from Peyton Lindmark (Bettendorf, Iowa / Pleasant Valley).
 
That defensive energy fueled the Norse to tie the game at one apiece in the top of the fourth. Cullen Stamp (Plymouth, Minn. / Wayzata) lead off the inning with a single followed by Joshua Matanich (Lake City, Minn. / Lincoln) reaching on an error by the Beavers. And Noah Sebben (Moline, Ill. / Moline) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Then Charlie Rubendall (Minneapolis, Minn. / DeLaSalle) hit the sac fly into the left field that brough the tying run across. The tie didn't last long as the Beavers hit a two-run home run to take back the lead.
 
Luther stayed with the Buena Vista thought the game despite being down by two runs but in the eighth the game got out of hand. The Beavers pounded out seven runs to put the game out of reach for the Norse by a final score of 10-1. With the loss Luther falls to 19-12 overall and 12-4 in A-R-C.

Luther will continue its road stretch in Strom Lake on Sunday, April 23^rd with the doubleheader against Buena Vista. First pitch will be at 1:00 p.m. CT for game one.
