DECORAH, Iowa – In a midweek American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) game the Luther women's basketball team defeated the University of Dubuque 64-58 on Wednesday. Leading the Norse in scoring was Haylie Sturm who recorded a career high 14 points. Luther improves their record to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the A-R-C.
In the first quarter both teams battled for every point.
Chelin Isaacson gave Luther it's first points of the contest with a jumper on their first possession. Then Dubuque secured it's first lead of the game at 7:59 going ahead 4-2 but that would be short lived. Luther took over the lead at 6:19 with a three-pointer from Strum which would hold for the rest of the game. Both teams scored 16 points in the second quarter. The Norse were up 30-27 heading into the break in part to a three-point percentage of 40 percent.
The Norse opened the third quarter with a 15-2 run building to their largest lead of the game with 16 points. However, the Spartans slowly began to chip away at the lead as the quarter dwindled down. In the fourth, Dubuque pulled within three down 52-55 with 4:33 left in the contest but Luther answered right back with a three from
Jordan Rubie. Later,
Kenlin Schmitt knocked down a pair of free throws putting the game out of reach for the Spartans as the Norse secured victory.
The Norse dominated from beyond the arc shooting 43.5 percent going 10-23 for the game. They also capitalized on the turnovers by Dubuque turning it into 25 points.

- Strum had her second career double-digit game. She went 4-6 from the field, 3-3 from the three-point arc and 3-4 at the line.
- Schmitt notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Rubie had 11 points.
