SUPERIOR, WIS. – The Luther women's basketball team won their first of the season with a 65-51 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday. Every player for Luther recorded points in the contest.
Kailey Jones led the scorers with 12 points and 6 rebounds. The Norse are now 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the American Rivers Conference.
In the first quarter, the Norse grabbed their first lead of the game at 2-1 with a jumper from
Chelin Isaacson at 7:58. From that point on Luther was in control of the game. Then midway through the second quarter, Luther pushed the lead to double digits with a layup from
Lizzie Kauls at 26-16. The Norse proceeded on 9-3 run to close out the first half leading 35-21 at halftime.
Then in the third quarter with 2:43 to go another jump shot from Isaacson put the Norse up by 20 for their largest lead of the game at 51-31. The Yellowjackets outscored the Norse 16-12 in the final quarter of play but the Norse would claim victory.
The Norse scored 36 points in the paint along with 36 points from the bench.
