WAVERLY, Iowa – In the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opener, the Luther women's basketball team was defeated by Wartburg 71-59.
The Knights led wire-to-wire and held a 15-point advantage early in the second quarter. The Norse continued to battle and thanks to a three-pointer and lay-up by
Amelia Solum at 6:20 of the fourth frame, the Norse pulled to within 53-56. Wartburg completed the game with a 15-6 run en route to the win.
Kailey Jones led the Norse with 18 points. Solum also tallied double digits with 14.
Lizzie Kauls controlled the boards collecting a game high 12 rebounds that included seven on the offensive glass.
The Norse outscored the Knights 34-28 in the paint and had 21 second chance points to the Knights 4. The free throw line and points of turnovers proved to be the difference in the game. Wartburg was 19-of-29 and Luther was 6-of-11 from the charity stripe. The Knights also tallied 23 points off turnovers to the Norse 12.

- Jones had 18 points and 9 rebounds.
- Solum had 14 points for her first double digit game of the season.
