Men's Soccer Narrowly Defeated by Loras 1-0

DECORAH, Iowa – The Luther men's soccer team was narrowly defeated by Loras College 1-0 in a critical American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) game on Wednesday. The Duhawks scored in the third minute to get by the Norse. Luther is 6-5-5 overall and 4-2-1 in A-R-C play with two games left in the regular season.

Just minutes after kickoff the Norse were called for a foul just outside the box. On the free kick Loras placed the ball into the box where it just slipped through the defense and into the back of the net. The Duhawks were on the board in the third minute.

Later in the half, Javier Munoz had a shot near the top corner, but the Loras keeper made the save. The Norse were down by one at halftime.

In the 68th minute, Caleb Wake almost tied the game at one but his shot just hit the right post.

Then in the 77th minute, Felipe Alvarez Casaro had a chance but once again the Loras goalie was there to make the save. Despite the 1-0 loss, Luther out shot Loras 14-6. The Norse are still on top of the A-R-C standings with 13 points.

Luther is now 6-5-5 overall and a 4-2-1 A-R-C play with just two games left in the regular season. They will face the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of Dubuque.
