CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Luther women's soccer team won their second straight American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) match in a row with a 6-0 win at Coe on Saturday. The Norse had six different goal scorers in the victory with
Maggie Haller,
Gaby Caballero,
Cassiah James,
Kaitlyn Bebensee,
Kenna McGee and
Kazi Hankee. Overall Luther is 6-5-4 and 3-2-1 in A-R-C.
The first goal of the game came in the 25th minute as
Maggie Haller tallied her eighth of the season with
Emma Lin credited with the assist. Later in the 37th minute,
Gaby Caballero doubled the Norse lead 2-0. Luther had the two goal advantage going into halftime. Both Haller and Caballero have scored in back-to-back games.
Ken Vavrichek had to make just one save in the first forty-five minutes.
In the second half, the Norse didn't let up on the offensive pressure. Haller's shot hit off the post but
Cassiah James was there on the rebound burring it into the back of the net in the 48th minute. Later
Kaitlyn Bebensee would get in on the action scoring a goal in the 57th minute assisted by Haller and James.
The game was well in hand but there was still time for two more goals in the 81st from
Kenna McGee and the 84th from
Kazi Hankee.
Irelyn Baumberger was in goal for the second half earning the combined shutout with Vavrichek in the 6-0 victory.
It was the most goals the Norse have scored in a game all season. Luther had 17 shots with 11 on target in the contest. The Norse move to 6-5-4 overall and 3-2-1 in A-R-C with 10 points.
