DECORAH, IOWA. – In game two of a three game home stand the Norse were able to break a 1-1 deadlock after the first half.
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) scored the game winner in the 75
th minute off a penalty kick for a 2 to 1 victory.
GRIND IT OUT
As the sun went down the fall temperatures began to grasp this late Wednesday night non-conference game. Luther dominated the possession in the first half but it was St. Mary's who would strike first. The Cardinals flicked the ball forward as Lauryn Skoruppa would shoot it to the other side of the net in the 26
th minute. A little later
Emma Lin (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) equalized sending the ball bending towards goal and deflected off the goal keeper.
For another thirty minutes the game would remain tied at 1 to 1. The Norse would get chance to take the lead for the first time in the game off a hand ball called in the box of St. Mary's.
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) stepped up to the spot to take the penalty kick. She sent it low and into the left corner for first Norse lead of the game for her third goal of the season. Luther was defensively was solid in the winding minutes of the game to win 2 to 1 over the Cardinals. The Norse win their seventh straight over St. Mary's.

- Junior Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) had a season high nine shots and six shots on goal. She also scored her second game winning goal of the season. This was her first goal in four games.
- Junior Emma Lin (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) had four shots, two shots on goal and her third goal of the season.
- Sophomore Ken Vavrichek (Bloomington, Minn./The Blake School) communicated to his defense well throughout the game and had three saves on the night.
