WHITEWATER, WIS. – Despite the result of tonight's game, the Norse held UW-Whitewater to just two goals with one in each half but the stats tell another story.
OFFENSE HAD OPPORTUNITIES
Luther found new sparks in the offense got moving quickly as
Makayla Haddorff (Eagan, Minn./Burnsville) fired off the first shot of the game in the 7
th minute. The Norse continued to put the pressure on Jude Dobrinska and the Warhawk defense. However, it would be Whitewater that would break open the game in the 26
th minute with a goal from Allie Prigge. Luther would have seven total shots in the first half but the Warhawks took the 1-0 lead going into the break.
The Norse only one goal down still kept finding ways to get into the attacking third of Whitewater. There would be six corner kicks for Luther but none could find the back of the net. Then the Warhawks got a break after Luther caused a foul in the box giving up a penalty kick. Jordayn Czarapata squeaked it just under goalkeeper
Irelyn Baumberger (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) for the second Warhawk goal. With the loss Luther falls to 2-3 on the season.
TOP NORSE
- Junior Sammie Sabin (Mendota Heights, Minn./Visitation) and Senior Rainey Baker (Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) each had three shots with two shots on goal leading the offense.
- Senior Irelyn Baumberget (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) had one save in the full ninety minutes of action in goal.
