DECORAH, IOWA – The men's soccer team has scored in the first half in every game so far this season. Once again today that proved enough to stay unbeaten defeating Macalester College 1 to 0.
Marcos Vila converted the penalty kick in the 28
th minute.
SCORE FIRST
Time and time again the Luther offense sends a flurry of shots on opponents but it also helps if the opposing Scots gave up a costly foul in the box.
Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S. San Fernando) would step to the spot once again slotting it low into the left corner. This is his second penalty kick goal this week as he had one in the game vs Knox College as well. The Norse had the opportunity to add to the total on their 9 total shots in the first half.
Play in the second half became aggressive on both sides. Macalester despite for a goal continued to surge deeper into the Luther end but the defense held steady. In the 84

Jack Bell (Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial) was unfazed coming up with a big save. The final minute of play became the wild west. The Norse would give up a free kick just outside the box as the clock wound down. The Scots goalkeeper came up trying for a last-ditch effort. The Norse held on to get the 1 to 0 victory.

- Fifth Year Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S San Fernando) scored his second penalty kick goal of the weekend. He leads the team with 5 goals and two assists so far through five games.
- Sophomore Jack Bell (Madison, Wis./Madison Memorial) hasn't let in a goal in 336 minutes of action. He had two saves in today's game picking up his fourth win of the season.
