Luther's baseball season came to an end this afternoon after it was defeated by Buena Vista University 5-4 in 10 innings this afternoon in Cedar Rapids. The Norse finished the year with an overall record of 22-20.
Luther held a 4-1 lead after four complete, when Buena Vista tied the game scoring a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Neither team was able to produce a run in the final three frames of regulation. Buena Vista had its chances as it left the bases loaded in the seventh, eighth and ninth frames.
In the 10th, the Beavers lead-off pinch hitter Nolan Faber reached after being hit by a pitch. He stole second and scored the game winner following back-to-back singles by Caden Matheweson and Jackson Smith.
Charlie Rubendall and Will Heitoff each drove in a run in the first for the Norse.
Mark Prince hit a two-tun home run in the fourth.
