The Luther College women's tennis team's season came to an end this afternoon in Whitewater, Wis. The Norse, ranked No. 17 in the Central Region, were defeated by No. 11 Carleton College 5-1 in a first round match of the NCAA III National Tournament. The Norse end their season with an overall record of 18-11. Carleton is now 16-1.
Carleton took control early sweeping doubles play.
Shelby Cook and
Julia Moreno at No. 1 were defeated by a final of (8-4).
Sofia Sackett and
Ana Olimpio lost (8-1) at No. 2 and
Lexi Hastings and
Natalia Smith were defeated (8-5) at No. 3.
The Knights secured the victory with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Mary Frances Hose defeated Sackett (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 and Amelia Asfaw defeated
Renata Martinez (6-0, 6-4) at No. 2.
Cook posted Luther's lone point thanks to a (6-0, 6-4) win over Ingrid Smith at No. 4
