The men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the NCAA III National Tournament after defeating Rose-Hulman 5-0 this morning in St. Louis, Mo. The win gives Luther an overall record of 18-9.
The Norse jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles.
Max Loen and
Nyathi Motlojoa defeated Joshua Giambattista and Owen Reynolds (8-3) at No. 1.
Francisco Navarrete and
Luke Westholder defeated Mark Slaninka and Grant Paradowski (8-5) at No. 2.
Joaquim Fernandes and
Nando Melo posted an (8-2) victory over RhianSeneviratne and Arudrra Krishnan at No. 3.
In singles, Westholder and
Dylan Wiemers secured the match victory posting straight set wins. Westholder defeated Reynolds (6-0, 6-1) at No. 3. Wiemers ended the match with a (6-2, 6-0) win at No. 5 over Seneviratne.
