The Luther baseball team hosted Coe College this afternoon and defeated the Kohawks 9-2. The Norse scored two runs in the first, one in both the third and seventh innings and five in the fourth.
Gavin Scurr and
Joshua Matanich led the Norse attack driving in three runs each. Scurr hit a two-run home run in the first and an rbi single in the fourth. Matanich hit a solo shot over the scoreboard in right center field in the third and hit a two-run single in the fourth.
Noah Sebben also hit a home run, a solo shot to left field in the seventh.
Harrison Blum (4-1) was credited with the win. Blum allowed two runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out eight.
The win gives Luther a league record of 10-8, 18-14 overall. The Norse are now tied for third place in the league standings with Loras.
This weekend, Luther is scheduled to play a three-game series at Simpson College. Friday's game will begin at 6:00 p.m. Saturday's double header is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
