Luther faced Kalamazoo College (MI) in the first of two matches scheduled today in Orlando, Fla. The Norse defeated the Hornets 6-3.
Luther jumped out to a 2-1 advantage in doubles.
Ana Olimpio and
Sofia Sackett posted an (8-6) win at No. 2 and
Kylie Dunning and
Emily Rubbelke won (8-3) at No. 3.
Shelby Cook and
Natalia Smith were defeated at No. 1 (8-4).
Two of Luther's four singles victories were decided in a third set tie breaker. Cook at No. 3 defeated Sophia Zhuang (3-6, 6-1, 12-10).
Riley O'Donnell defeated Maddie Hurley (7-5, 3-6, 10-6) at No. 5. Sofia Sacket (6-4, 6-3) and
Julia Moreno (6-4, 6-1) won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 4 respectively.
