Luther traveled to Simpson College this afternoon and was defeated by a final of 75-61. The Norse held a one-point lead at halftime (35-34) and extended that lead to five (43-38) three minutes into the second half, but were outscored by the Storm 37-18 the rest of the game.
Simpson shot 54% that included an 8-of-16 effort from behind the arch. Luther connected on 42% of its attempts and was 11-of-31 from three-point land. The free throw line played a key factor in the outcome as well. Simpson was 13-of-22, while Luther was 6-of-11.
Aidan Bailey and
Randall Days led the Norse attack with 16 and 15 points respectively.
Three players reached double figures for the Storm. Andrew Curran had 26, Tajen Ross had 20 and Chris Honz had 18.
The loss gives Luther an A-R-C record of 4-8, 7-13 overall. Simpson is 2-10, 5-16.
Luther will wrap up its home schedule next week. Monday night it will host the University of Dubuque at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday night it hosts Loras College at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday afternoon it hosts Central College at 4:00 p.m.
