The men's tennis team posted its first dual meet victory of the year this afternoon at the Lake Geneva Tennis Club (WI). The Norse defeated the Pioneers of Grinnell College by a final of 6-3.
Luther held a 2-1 advantage followinig doubles. No. 9
Max Loen and
Nyathi Motlojoa posted an (8-4) win at No. 1.
Nando Melo and
Luke Westholder won at No. 2 (8-5).
Francisco Navarrete and
Joaquim Fernandes lost at No. 3 (8-5).
The Norse won four of six singles matches to secure the victory. Motlojoa won at No. 1 (6-4, 6-1). Loen won at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2).
Luke Westholder won at No. 3 (6-2, 6-4) and
Eli Young won at No. 5 (3-6, 6-4, 10-6).
The win gives Luther an overall record of 1-3. Grinnell fell to 2-1.
The victory was also the 500th combined career victory as head coach for both men and women for Norse Head Coach
Adam Strand.
