Men’s Soccer Battles for a Draw at Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, NEB. – The equalizing goal came for the Norse with 17 seconds left in regulation to settle for a 3 to 3 draw on the road.

BATTLED TO THE FINISH
At the end of the day each team gives it their all. The Norse today fought for a critical point in this wild conference game. Luther would get the opportunity to take a free kick inside the box in what many would say was confusing. Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S San Fernando) took the initial shot that was blocked before it rebounded to the feet of Will Overberg (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) who took advantage scoring in the 6th minute. Then the Prairie Wolves would even it up with a header from Logan Lawrence in the box in the 27th. But in 29 seconds the Norse would take back the lead by a low shot from Marcos Vila (Madrid, Spain/I.E.S San Fernando) for his 9th goal of the season. It was 2-1 Norse at halftime time.

Then in the second half the Prairie Wolves clawed their way back to tie it up at 2. As Alex Kohler got ahead of the Norse defense on the back post in the 54th minute. And the game wouldn't stay tied for long as less than ten minutes later another goal was on the board. Nebraska Wesleyan would take its first lead of the game as the Norse couldn't clear the ball out of the box. Jackson McGowan gave the Prairie Wolves new life with his goal in the 63rd minute. This was the longest time all season that the Norse had trailed in a game so far this season. Then with just 17 seconds left in the game Luis Figueroa (San Juan, Puerto Rico/High Mowing School) took a chance sending in from outside the box. The ball took a deflection off a Prairie Wolves defender for the equalizing dagger. The Prairie Wolves took one last chance but it went wide as this one ends in a 3 to 3 draw.
