DECORAH, IOWA – The Norse finished off the regular season on a high note defeating the Kohawks 4-0.
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) had two goals and one assist and
Emma Goulet (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and
Cammi Gould (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) got on the score sheet for the first time this season.
TWO GOALS BY NEW FACES
At the beginning of the evening the Norse knew that they were in the A-R-C conference tournament but didn't know what seed they would be. But first they needed a win over Coe on a chilly fall evening in Decorah.
Lauren Linkletter (Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) got things going taking a shot but the Kohawk goalkeeper punched it out but it wasn't clear as
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) scored off the deflection in the 8
th minute. That would be the game winner but the Norse were far from done scoring. In the 25
th minute setting up the corner kick was
Emma Lin (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) who sent it bending towards the box and waiting for it was
Emma Goulet (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) who headed it in. Up 2-0 at the half Luther was feeling pretty good.
In the second half the Norse found success once again as the pass forward found the feet of
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) who raced ahead of the back line of the Kohawks. But doing what she does best she scored her second goal of the game in the 60
th minute. And ten minutes later the final goal of the game
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) threw it deep off the throw in then it was
Cammi Gould (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) put it away. Norse get the 4-0 victory over the Kohawks improving to a series all-time record of 31-3-1 dating back to September 13
th, 1990. Luther also claims the five seed in the A-R-C Conference Tournament with play beginning this weekend.
