MOST GOALS FOR NORSE THIS SEASON
Scoring more than two goals in a game has been a long time coming for the women's soccer team. Today they scored their highest tally all season with three goals coming in the first half alone. Just a mere four minutes into the game as
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) used a long throw to get the ball towards the goal. Then it was all
Emily Groppoli (Mendota Heights, Minn./Visitation) from there for the first goal of the game. And the pressure from Luther kept coming. Later
Maggie Haller dribbled down near the end line and fed the ball across the box to the feet of
Rose Sieve (Apple Valley, Minn./Rosemount) in the 10
th minute. The third and final Norse goal of the half would come from
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) unassisted. And although the Beavers would get one back in the 43
rd minute with a goal from Madyline Taylor.
In the second half the Beavers came out with more fight but the Norse kept firing off shot after shot. However, the change to Trisha Westphal for the Buena Vista stopped the bleeding. The Norse also made a key switch in goal with
Elisabeth Queoff (Madison, Wis./Verona) getting her first career save in the 79
th minute. The last goal of the game came in the 86
th minute with a free kick for the Norse just outside the box.
Maggie Haller (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) fired it high and to the left for the fourth and final goal of the game. As Luther wins 4 to 1.
