Luther snapped a three-game losing streak with a 55-48 victory over Simpson College tonight in the Regents Center. The Norse held the lead for 34 minutes in this contest that included a 29-24 advantage at halftime.
In the second frame, the Norse were up by nine (43-34) with a little over six minutes remaining. Simpson whittled the lead down to three (51-48), but a three-point bucket by Aiden Bailey and a free throw by
Andrew Lazinbat secured the victory in the final 23 seconds of play.
Bailey led the Norse offensive attack with 13 points, with nine coming from behind the arch.
Ben Gill also tallied double digits finishing with 12.
Daniel Webster and Lazinbat finsihed with nine and eight points respectively. Gill and Bailey led the squad with eight rebounds each and Webster was one behind with eight.
Simpson was led by Tajen Ross who scored a game high 23 points.
The win gives Luther an A-R-C record of 3-7, 6-12 overall. Simpson fell to 1-10 in league play, 4-16 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 2 when it will host Wartburg College. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
