The men's basketball team won its fourth game in a row, defeating Central College 61-53 this afternoon at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium, Pella, Iowa. The win gives the Norse an American Rivers Conference record of 2-4, 5-9 overall.
Luther played solid basketball the entire afternoon and held the lead for over 28 minutes. With the score tied at 28 at halftime, Luther took the lead for good with a little over 15 minutes left in the second half.
The Norse finished the afternoon shooting 41.2% and held the Dutch to 39.3%. Luther also won the battle of the boards 39-31. The free throw line also proved big for the Norse as they were 11-of-14 from the charity stripe, while the Dutch made 3-of-8.
Matthew Franzen led all scorers with 14 points. Franzen was 4-of-6 from behind the three-point-line.
Daniel Webster also tallied double digits with 11 and
Randall Days produced 10.
Andrew Lazinbat and
Ben Gill led the team on the glass collecting eight and seven rebounds respectively.
Cole Peters was a close third with six.
The loss was the eighth in a row for the Dutch who are now 0-7 in the A-R-C, 3-12 overall.
Luther returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 19 when it will host the University of Dubuque at 7:30 p.m.
