No. 20 Luther wrapped up its two-match, three-day road trip to Chicago, Ill., facing No. 15 University of Chicago this afternoon at Stagg Field. The Maroons, scored twice in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory in this battle of nationally ranked teams.
Wade Griffin scored what proved to be the game winner in the 54th minute on a header off a corner kick. Cal LeDoux scored the insurance goal at 87:43.
The Maroons held Luther to six shots, while producing 10 shots off of their own. Luther had three shots on goal and Chicago placed six inside the frame.
The loss was the third in a row for the Norse who are now 4-3. Chicago improved to 5-0-1.
Luther will begin American Rivers Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 25 when it will host Central College at 3:30 p.m.
