Luther traveled to Chicago, Ill., for the first of two matches this weekend in the windy city. Tonight, the Norse faced the Vikings of North Park University and were defeated by a final of 1-0. The match had a two hour and 20 rain and lightning delay and was completed late in the evening in front of an estimated 35 fans that decided to take battle through the weather conditions.
The Vikings Peder Olsen scored what proved to be the game winner at 69:01 on a free kick just outside the box. North Park applied pressure the majority of the evening outshooting the Norse 17 to 9. Both teams had three shots on goal.
The loss was the second in a row for No. 20 Luther that is now 4-2. North Park improved to 5-1.
Luther will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 19 when it will face No. 15 University of Chicago at 1:00 p.m.
